You know how valuable RSS feeds can be in providing up-to-the-minute
news, but how do you make this information accessible to your users?
Many of them aren’t familiar with newsreaders and may not have access
to email plug ins. Andornot’s RSS Viewer is designed to let you insert
the latest feed content into your web pages so that as it changes, your
website automatically changes too.
The news feeds could be from national
or local sources, syndicated content from your industry,
journal table of contents, blogs by leaders in your profession,
or even from your Inmagic
database.
The RSS Viewer gives you a simple way of
providing access to this dynamic web content and it is
quick to set up and maintain.
It is easy to keep your site fresh!
- You can provide your users with easy access to the latest information
without the need to install extra software on each desktop.
- Allow
your users to choose when they want to read the latest
news rather than clogging inboxes with countless emails.
- There
are now thousands of feeds available and you can use
a digest service to narrow down the results and tailor
them to your users.
- There is no limit to the number of feeds you can display
or the number of web pages where you can display them.
- Your
users will be impressed at how up to date your site is – no
need to tell them it all happens automatically!
What does the display look like?
RSS Viewer showing top 3
items
from the Andornot News blog
We have set up our own home page to use the RSS Viewer to automatically
display the content from four different sources, including
feeds from our two blogs, and two WebPublisher PRO databases.
Behind
the scenes there is a template which governs the layout
of the date, title, description (not shown here),
the link to the original piece, as well as the format
of each item. The number of entries shown can be set
individually for each feed as can the caching to reduce
server load and improve page render time. Which feed formats work with the Viewer?
The viewer supports RSS
0.9 to RSS 2.0 formats. It does not support Atom at this time, though support for Atom is planned for future releases.
Use of a feed service like FeedBurner is recommended. A feed service
can convert feed formats on the fly, optimize them and run stats on subscribers.
An Atom feed can be converted to RSS through FeedBurner. You can also
use services like Feed Digest to mix, blend and sort feed content.
Inmagic WebPublisher PRO feeds
The links reach right into your database.
If you have Inmagic’s WebPublisher PRO software, you can use the
RSS Viewer in association with the Andornot RSS Control to publish the
latest additions to your Inmagic databases.

Worried about implementation?
Andornot can guide you through the process
or can take care of all the installation and implementation
for you on a consulting basis. If you
wish to handle this yourself, we recommend:
- a good understanding of webservers and IIS, or assistance
from IT staff for the installation (usually less than
1 hour).
- good HTML skills to add and modify the provided
code.

The Andornot RSS Viewer is priced at $275 or $500 if purchased with
the Andornot RSS Control.
