Inmagic® Presto
Inmagic Presto enables you to organize and aggregate the information important to your organization in one centralized web-based application. It provides a one stop web interface for searching and managing the various resources which can be broken down into different Content Types or Content Collections giving your users powerful searching and browsing capabilities.
Content Types
- Selected Content Type libraries are available or you can build your own. For each content type you can specify metadata fields, search and display options, and customize these as needed.
For example, an engineering consulting company might set up different content types for:
- proposals
- internal reports,
- library materials
- drawings
- project photos
- useful websites etc.
and a pharmaceutical company might be more concerned with
- published papers
- patents
- regulatory submissions etc.
- You can search across all content types or narrow your search down
to just specific ones. The content types can be either internal
information in varied file formats (PDF's; Word docs; PowerPoint
presentations; photos etc.) or links to external content such as
websites, subscription services etc.
Content Collections
- Presto can also segment your information into topics or Content
Collections that mirror the way you work. So for example, you might
have collections for each of your products in a manufacturing
company, or collections by project or by clients for a consultancy.
- Each of these collections can be browsed in a directory style folder structure.
- All items can include additional metadata for
keywords or subject terms from a taxonomy or standard
classification.
- Items can be assigned to multiple Content Collections through an
easy to use drag-and-drop interface.
Search and Display
- Presto can search the full text of documents as well as any
additional assigned metadata.
- Users can choose a simple Google-like keyword search or use advanced
search screens that are tailored with fields for each content type.
- The original documents can be displayed in their native
format alongside the Summary section showing any added information.
- Items can be added one at a time in traditional cataloguing
style, batch uploaded via XML or Presto can be set to monitor
directories or RSS feeds and automatically import new content.
- You can choose from different search result display styles
depending on the content types, or you can build your own to suit
the specific needs of your users. For example, internal reports
may use a typical bibliographic style whereas images may be shown as
thumbnails in a gallery view across the page. See the specification sheet for a screen shot.
Sharing the data
- After searching, a user can choose to select certain items and
act on the results. The ability to email, download, or add to a cart
to save and refine selections across searches is built into Presto.
- Users can also save a search as an alert and set this up as an
RSS feed.
Presto Home Page
- The home page is a key part of the Presto application and can be
configured to display different information depending on who is
logged in. The template is set so that users have a quick search
option with the ability to limit by content type, plus areas where a
directory style or tree view of their selected top two content
collections can be displayed. The home page has space for general
announcements plus the latest alerts on specific subjects brought in
via RSS feeds. See the specification sheet for a screen shot of the home page.
- Administrators can easily add users and assign them to certain
roles with corresponding privileges, default home pages etc. If
required Presto can integrate with Active Directory.
Pricing and additional features
- Presto is priced depending on the number of users and content
types required. There are also add-on Function Packs for federated
searching of external and internal content using WebFeat, plus a
Developer Pack to provide access to the underlying API. Upgrade
pricing is available for existing Inmagic customers.
